Getting Married in the Catholic Church: Your Guide

“So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
— Matthew 19:6

Getting Married in the Catholic Church

Marriage is a beautiful vocation, a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, lived in love, fidelity, and openness to life. It is more than a celebration, it is a sacrament, where Christ Himself becomes the foundation of your union.

We would be honoured to walk with you as you prepare for this holy and joyful step.

Ready to Begin?

Please contact our Pastoral Minister, Jamie Soulliere, to begin the marriage preparation process. He’ll be happy to meet with you, answer your questions, and help you take the next step.

📍 Marriage preparation should begin at least 6 months in advance of your desired wedding date.

What to Expect

Couples preparing for marriage in our Family of Parishes will be invited to:

  • Meet with the pastor or pastoral minister
  • Complete a marriage preparation course (Pre-Cana or equivalent)
  • Provide required documents (baptismal certificate, freedom to marry, etc.)
  • Celebrate the sacrament in one of our parish churches

Blessings for Your Journey

Whether you are newly engaged, discerning next steps, or returning to the Church, we welcome you with joy. Let your love be rooted in Christ, and your marriage be a sign of His faithful, life-giving love to the world.
