The Anointing of the Sick: Hope and Healing for All

Two hands holding each other, symbolizing comfort and care, on a bed covered with white sheets.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28

A Sacrament of Healing and Hope

The Anointing of the Sick is not only for those who are dying. It is a sacrament of healing and peace, offered to anyone seriously ill, preparing for surgery, living with chronic pain, or in palliative care. Through prayer, the laying on of hands, and holy oil, the person receives the strength and grace of Christ in body and soul.
